Let’s Abolish Poverty

In the US, alone, there are over 43 million people in poverty.  Some of the most vulnerable individuals in our country are helplessly and hopelessly living in impoverished circumstances, many of whom are homeless. 8.8% of people living in poverty are seniors who are food insecure. They don’t have a  constant source of food on a daily basis. 19.7% of the poor are children under the age of 18, who are living in dire circumstances that affect their health , safety and well being. As a result of their impoverished circumstances, they present at school with PTSD, sleep deprivation, and ill health to name a few.  How can they learn when they live in fear daily?

It is an outrage for a country like the US, commonly referred to as the wealthiest country in the world to have such a large percentage of its population living in poverty.
